England vs Latvia Preview & Tips

England cruised to a 2-0 win over Albania in their match on Friday as they began life under Thomas Tuchel with a win.

Latvia edged to a 1-0 away win over Andorra in their opening game as they joined England at the top of the table with three points.

This will be the first time the two sides have ever met in a competitive match.

England dominated Albania at Wembley without ever really getting the reward their domination suggested they deserved.

Two goals from 12 total shots and 75% of the ball shows the Three Lions really are in transition following the switch from Gareth Southgate to Thomas Tuchel as manager. It will take time to see real progression, but the early signs are good, with England easily beating their opponents.

England's qualifying group should not be one that troubles them, and they can make things much more comfortable by securing six points from their opening two games and moving clear at the top.

Harry Kane began the Tuchel-era with a goal, and if he plays a part in this one, he will likely score. Latvia will more than likely sit very deep, with this giving England a lot of possession in the attacking-third. With Kane adept at turning up in the right place at the right time, I am backing him to notch a goal for the third consecutive match for his country.

Latvia Form

Latvia enjoyed an impressive 1-0 win over Andorra in their opening match as they moved level with England at the summit heading into their clash at Wembley.

Unfortunately for Latvia, this will likely be the only time they can claim to be group-toppers, with a lesson in football on the horizon.

England looked like they were still trying to properly work things out on the pitch, but the odds still suggest that even a rusty English side will be far too good for the travelling team. I do not expect Latvia to really threaten in this one as they are easily beaten.
