Manchester City were easily beaten in midweek as their Champions League campaign came to an end at the hands of Real Madrid.

Liverpool had to really battle for a point against Aston Villa in midweek as they were held in a 2-2 draw at Villa Park.

Liverpool have won four of their last 10 against City, with the latter winning twice and the other four ending as draws.

Manchester City Form

Manchester City were completely blown away by Real Madrid in midweek as the pace of Kylian Mbappe up front saw the striker score a hat-trick in a comfortable 3-1 win in Spain. City's defeat finally ended what was a torrid run in the Champions League this season.

Despite arriving after easily beating Newcastle 4-0 at the weekend, City were never really in the contest in midweek. The one positive for City is that they have been fairly good at home this term, with most of their issues coming on the road. Indeed, with the exception of their 3-2 loss to Real Madrid, City have won their last five matches at the Etihad Stadium

The major worry for City will be that they have been poor against Liverpool of late. Pep Guardiola's men have failed to win any of their last three against Liverpool, with the Reds in the ascendancy. With a shot at the Champions League next season on the line, I believe the home side will show their class and ensure Liverpool do not leave with all three points.

Liverpool Form

Liverpool continue to trundle towards the Premier League title, although they have had to contend with two speed bumps coming in the form of draws with Everton and Aston Villa.

Both matches ended 2-2, with the Reds going 2-1 up in both encounters before being pegged back. While they still boast a lead over Arsenal in second, it has been cut to just eight points, while the Gunners have a game in hand.

A win in this match could be crucial, but I predict that City will show they are still an excellent side as they hold their opponents in a high-scoring match. Mohamed Salah continues to impress in front of goal, and while I back him to score, I do not predict that it will be in a winning cause.

I am backing over 3.5 goals in this one as the pair serve up some brilliant attacking football. I also back Mohamed Salah to continue his brilliant scoring run in a match that sees the points shared.
