Tottenham vs Brighton
Tottenham's season has continued to slide towards disaster, with the London club now taking up one of the relegation spots after 32 matches of their campaign. With just seven wins in 32 matches this season, it is easy to see why Spurs have struggled, with the 51 goals they have conceded only seven less than bottom of the league Wolves. Without a league win since beating Crystal Palace 1-0 back on December 28, Spurs have lost nine of their next 14, drawing the other five. Taking on a Brighton side that is chasing European football this season is a match I predict they will lose in.
Brighton have been outstanding this season, with the 46 points they have picked up enough to see the side move up to ninth, six short of Liverpool and fifth place. Heading into their game with Spurs, Brighton have won five of their last six, only losing to Arsenal in this time. Wins over other relegation threatened sides like Nottingham Forest and Brighton in this run shows Brighton are not one to take an opponent lightly, and I back them to add to Tottenham's woes with another victory.
Manchester City vs Arsenal
In the game of the weekend in the Premier League, we will see leaders Arsenal travel to take on second-placed Manchester City in a mouth-watering clash.
City are unbeaten in their last nine in the league, winning six times and drawing three matches. Their 3-0 win over Chelsea in their last match saw City impress in the second-half, while they boast 11 wins in 15 at home, only losing once and drawing the other three. They also possess a morale-boosting 2-0 win over Arsenal in the EFL Cup final back in March, with City denying Arsenal any hopes of securing the quadruple. Victory in this one will see City move to within three points of Arsenal with a game in hand, and I back them to hand the Gunners a second league defeat in as many games.
Arsenal looked incredibly nervous in their clash with Bournemouth last week as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat in what may yet prove a defining moment in the title race. Incredibly, Arsenal have now lost three of their last five in all competitions. While they did beat Sporting 1-0 in Portugal in the first-leg of their Champions League quarter-final, they were then held in an uninspiring performance against the Portuguese side at the Emirates in midweek. While the Gunners avoided defeat in the week, their Wednesday night game will have been energy sapping, and their performance did little to suggest that they will hand City a first league defeat since January 17.
Verdict
I am backing Brighton to push Tottenham closer to relegation as City blow the title race wide open with a win over Arsenal.
