Atletico Madrid made it two wins in as many league games as they eased to a 3-0 win over Valencia at home.

RB Leipzig were left frustrated by Union Berlin in their last match as they were held to a 0-0 draw by their opponents.

The pair have met once before, with Leipzig winning 2-1 in a friendly back in 2020.

Atletico Madrid have been in good form at the start of the new season, avoiding defeat in all five of their matches.

Three wins have come alongside two draws, while they have scored nine times and conceded two goals. Atleti have always championed being strong at the back, but they have added goals to their opening five in an impressive set of outings.

Their 3-0 win over Valencia may have come against a side that now sit at the foot of La Liga, but their vanquished opponents are rarely easy to beat, making their win to nil all the more impressive. While I do not necessarily back a lot of goals in midweek, I predict that the home side will get off the mark with a win.

RB Leipzig Form

RB Leipzig lost ground on the sides at the top of the Bundesliga after their disappointing 0-0 draw with Union Berlin.

Leipzig have rarely looked like setting the Bundesliga on fire with their goals after netting four in their opening three matches. It has instead been their defence, which has conceded just twice this term, that has shone.

With the exception of their 3-2 win over Bayer Leverkusen before the international break, most competitive games have been fairly low-scoring, and I am backing more of the same as the travelling side draws a blank in front of goal.

I am backing Atleti to keep their fifth consecutive clean sheet as they make it three wins on the bounce this week.
