Eintracht Frankfurt vs Liverpool Preview & Tips

Eintracht Frankfurt were hammered 5-1 by Atletico Madrid in their last match as they were given a reality check in Europe’s top competition.

Liverpool were stunned by Galatasaray in their last European game as they slipped to a first defeat in the competition.

  • Eintracht Frankfurt have scored and conceded six goals in Europe this season
  • Liverpool have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last seven in all competitions

Head To Head

The pair have only met twice before, with Liverpool winning once and the other game ending as a draw.

Eintracht Frankfurt Form

Eintracht Frankfurt have struggled to juggle attacking and defending this season, with the side scoring two or more in nine of their last 10 in all competitions, but keeping just a single clean sheet.

Incredibly, they have managed to score five goals or more in three of their last six, with this highlighting their ability to score goals. However, against Europe’s best, being weak at the back will invariably end in conceding goals and losing games.

Their last home game in Europe ended in a stunning 5-1 win over Galatasaray, with their vanquished opponents going on to beat Liverpool 1-0. Incidentally, Liverpool beat Atletico Madrid 3-2 in their opener before the Spanish side beat the Germans 5-1. Could this simply see a high-scoring clash between two sides have been poor at the back?

Liverpool Form

Liverpool are in danger of slipping to a fifth consecutive defeat in all competitions as their poor run was extended by a 2-1 loss to Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday.

Liverpool’s beleaguered defence was found out once again at the weekend, with their attack unable to get them out of jail. This was their fourth game in a row in which the Reds have scored a goal or less, while they have now failed to keep a clean sheet in their last seven in all competitions.

With the Reds struggling to keep their opponents out this season, perhaps attack is the best form of defence in midweek. Their hosts have conceded two or more in their last five in all competitions, and I back this trend to continue in yet another open game.

Verdict

I am backing both sides to score as over 3.5 goals are scored in an entertaining match between two sides that cannot keep the goals out right now.
