Real Madrid were served a stunning defeat in their last European game as they were beaten 1-0 by Lille on the road.

Real have won five of their last 10 against Dortmund, with the German side winning twice and three games ending as draws.

Real Madrid Form

Real Madrid have been far from perfect in Europe this season, with the side already tasting defeat after just two games.

Their 3-1 win over Stuttgart saw the European champions eventually get the job done in a 3-1 win. They were then denied any points in their trip to France to face Lille as they were beaten 1-0. They looked strangely toothless in their last European game as they struggled to break their stubborn hosts down.

With the prospect of a second successive loss in Europe on the line, Real know they need to improve massively if they are to get back to winning ways. However, with the perfect Dortmund to come, I am backing the Spanish side to struggle.

Borussia Dortmund Form

Borussia Dortmund have been fantastic at the start of the new Champions League campaign in a stunning run that has seen them top the standings after two games.

While neither Club Brugge nor Celtic sit in the genuine elite in Europe, a number of top sides have struggled to beat teams they should supposedly breeze past in Europe this term. For Dortmund, this has not been a problem. They eased past Club Brugge in a 3-0 win before humiliating Celtic in a 7-1 triumph. Dortmund have scored the most goals in the competition (10) and conceded just once.

While the German side will be full of confidence heading into this one, they face their first truly world class opponent in the Champions League this season. With this in mind, I am backing them to drop points for the first time in a positive draw on the road against the European champions.
