Australia vs South Africa Tips

Australia were hammered 33-7 by South Africa last week as they were given a lesson in rugby.

South Africa could move clear at the top of the Rugby Championship table with another big win over Australia this weekend.

Head To Head

South Africa have won five of their last 10 against the Aussies, with the Wallabies winning four matches and one game ending as a draw.

Australia Form

Australia struggled to get anywhere near South Africa in their opening clash as they went in at half-time 21-0 down.

While the second-half saw the Aussies put in a far more competitive display as they were beaten 12-7, the damage had already been done. Australia's hopes of winning the first match were slim, and they were crushed further after falling three converted tries behind.

I do not predict that the Aussies will beat South Africa this week. Joe Schmidt's side have been better of late, but they are still a long way short of the best sides in the world. This will be another learning experience for the Wallabies, albeit a painful one.

South Africa Form

South Africa continue to prove that they are one of, if not the best side in the game at the moment.

While Australia have hardly been perfect of late, heading to face them is never easy, especially when they arrive on the back of a four-game winning run. However, the Springboks used their power game to put the Aussies on the back-foot before unleashing their tricky wingers to cause havoc.

The major frustration for South Africa will have been letting the Aussies score a try. Australia's only score in the game came in the 76th minute as the Springboks finally faltered. While keeping the opposition out will not rank as highly as winning with maximum points, South Africa would have been disappointed to have missed the chance to completely humiliate their opponents by winning to nil.

Verdict

I am backing another big win for the Springboks as they secure maximum points with Cheslin Kolbe crossing for a score.
