The 2024 Rugby Championship sees the four best teams in the southern hemisphere come together to fight to lift the trophy.

Boasting New Zealand, South Africa, Australia and Argentina, the competition will be played across six rounds, starting mid-August and ending in late-September. With the competition now five games old, South Africa are the favourites at 1.01 with bet365, but are they the side to back?

South Africa are the side to back in the Rugby Championship in 2024, with the current world champions available at 1.01 to clean up and win the latest iteration of the competition.

The only other side able to stop them is their next opponent Argentina. The Pumas are available at 21.00 to stun the reigning world champions.

The odds have not shifted despite Argentina securing a stunning 29-28 win over South Africa at home to keep the competition alive heading into the final round.

The worry for Argentina is that they have played against both New Zealand and Australia, winning once and losing once. Indeed, they beat New Zealand before succumbing to a heavy defeat. Could we see another big defeat for the Pumas following their historic win?

For New Zealand and Australia, this their final match will change litle for the latter. Australia will take the wooden spoon after losing 31-28 to New Zealand. Meanwhile, New Zealand could finish second if they beat the Aussies and Argentina lose to South Africa.

The competition in 2024 has been very unpredictable, especially when New Zealand are playing. Their 38-30 loss to Argentina in game one set them up for a tough championship, with two defeats to South Africa following a 42-10 win over Argentina in the reverse of their opener.

For Argentina, a second-placed finish would be a huge achievement, especially when considering this would consign the All Blacks and Australia to third and fourth in the table.

For South Africa, this weekend could mark the weekend they take the Rugby Championship trophy from New Zealand. The Springboks have been phenomenal all across the park, and if they are to secure silverware, they would be worthy winners.
