Saudi Arabia secured a 2-1 win over China in their last outing as they ended a run of two without a victory.

Japan hammered Bahrain 5-0 in their last qualifying game as they maintained their place at the top of Group C.

Saudi Arabia were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Indonesia in their first match in World Cup qualifying as they immediately lost ground on Japan at the summit.

Their 2-1 win over China in game two saw them get back to winning ways, but they were unable to take advantage of playing a side that had conceded seven goals to Japan in their opening match. While the win was all that mattered, Saudi Arabia know they need to improve massively if they are to win this one.

Coming up against a Japanese defence that has kept clean sheets in their last six games is a daunting task, and I am backing the home side to slip to their first defeat in this round of qualifying.

Japan humiliated China 7-0 in their opening match to begin the third round of World Cup qualifying with a statement victory.

They followed this up with a brilliant 5-0 win against Bahrain, with this triumph enough to lead them to the top of Group C. With a two-point advantage over their next opponents in second, Japan know this is a major chance to tighten their grip on top-spot in Group C.

Looking to extend a run of six consecutive wins, Japan will look to ensure their rock-solid defence is once again on point. This will give them the foundation to attack a side that have only won one of their last three.
