Indonesia picked up a point in their opening World Cup qualifying match as they held Saudi Arabia to a 1-1 draw.

Australia were stunned by Bahrain in their opening qualifying match as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat.

The pair have met eight times in total, with Australia wining six meetings, Indonesia winning once and one game ending as a draw.

Indonesia knew they needed to start in solid style in a tough World Cup qualifying group, and they did exactly that, as they held Saudi Arabia in a 1-1 draw.

While the point means they are already two short of Japan at the summit, Indonesia find themselves above their next opponents after one match. This simply gives them extra incentive in the match as victory would fire them four points clear of the Aussies.

While the incentive for winning is massive, Indonesia are not my pick to win this week. They have really struggled against the Socceroos, with goals and clean sheets a rare occurrence.

Australia Form

Australia's 1-0 loss the Bahrain in their opening match was one of the shocks of the round, with the Socceroos unable to continue an impressive run of form that had seen them win four matches on the bounce.

While the Aussies did dominate Bahrain, they could not find the breakthrough as their attack drew a blank. More frustrating was the fact that Bahrain could not find the net themselves, with Harry Souttar netting in the wrong goal in the 89th minute to consign Australia to defeat.

Now, the focus has to be on getting back to winning ways. Another defeat could see the Aussies slip six points off the top, while they would be four behind Indonesia after just two games. With this in mind, I am backing the Socceroos to get back to winning ways with a victory to nil.
